About Williams Ridout

We are a design-led furniture and joinery company, making bespoke kitchens, furniture and wardrobes in our North London workshop.

Our work is centred on designing and making bespoke furniture and joinery, with each project developed individually around its setting and purpose.

We work closely with clients, architects and interior designers, developing each project through drawings, material choices and careful consideration of how it will be made and used.

Design and manufacture remain closely linked throughout, so the decisions made at the drawing stage are carried through into the finished work.

Made in London

Established in 2004 by Alistair Williams and Joe Ridout.

A decade after first meeting while studying Three Dimensional Design in London, Alistair and Joe joined forces to combine their passion for design with their evolving craftsmanship skills to create Williams Ridout.

In the early days, they rented bench space in communal workshops, first in Dalston and then Kings Cross before setting up their own workshop in what eventually became Cole Drops Yard.

Williams Ridout is now based in N15, in our 8000 square foot workshop.

Project Management

Our Process

The six stages below explain how a typical project progresses, from our initial meeting through to installation and handover. They also outline when design fees and stage payments become due.

Initial Meeting

Our first meeting is an opportunity to gather as much relevant information as possible. From inspiration images and storage requirements to material preferences and any reference points that help us understand your vision.

There’s no need to arrive with a fully developed brief, this stage is about exploring ideas and gaining a clear understanding of your style, needs, and expectations.

We’ll also discuss budget parameters and project timelines to ensure that our approach aligns with your goals from the outset. Following this conversation, we’ll provide a guide price and next steps based on the agreed scope of work.

Project Management

Does your project involve more than bespoke joinery?

Many of our projects form part of a wider renovation, involving builders, decorators, electricians and other specialist trades. We're experienced in working alongside these professionals, coordinating our design, manufacture and installation with the wider programme of work.

Where required, we can also source and manage trusted tradespeople on your behalf, arranging quotations, coordinating schedules and overseeing their involvement throughout the project. This gives you a single point of contact for the work we're managing, helping to keep everything organised and communication straightforward.

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Workshop & Team

Our 8,000 sq ft workshop is based in North London, in an area with a long history of furniture making.

Although much of the area's manufacturing heritage has gradually disappeared, we're pleased to continue making furniture here, combining traditional cabinet-making skills with modern machinery and techniques.

Our designers, cabinet makers and project managers work closely together, allowing us to maintain a direct connection between the initial design and the finished piece.

Alistair Williams

Co-Founder

Alistair oversees production at Williams Ridout, working closely with our cabinet makers to ensure every project is made to the standards we expect.

Having studied Furniture Design at Leeds University, he brings a strong understanding of materials, construction and the practical considerations behind good design. His approach combines traditional cabinet-making skills with modern manufacturing methods, with particular attention to quality, longevity and responsible material choices.
