Established in 2004 by Alistair Williams and Joe Ridout.
A decade after first meeting while studying Three Dimensional Design in London, Alistair and Joe joined forces to combine their passion for design with their evolving craftsmanship skills to create Williams Ridout.
In the early days, they rented bench space in communal workshops, first in Dalston and then Kings Cross before setting up their own workshop in what eventually became Cole Drops Yard.
Williams Ridout is now based in N15, in our 8000 square foot workshop.

The six process stages shown below are designed to illustrate the flow of a typical project and the payment schedules.
Initial Meeting
Our first meeting is an opportunity to gather as much relevant information as possible. From inspiration images and storage requirements to material preferences and any reference points that help us understand your vision.
There’s no need to arrive with a fully developed brief, this stage is about exploring ideas and gaining a clear understanding of your style, needs, and expectations.
We’ll also discuss budget parameters and project timelines to ensure that our approach aligns with your goals from the outset. Following this conversation, we’ll provide a guide price and next steps based on the agreed scope of work.
Project Management
Does your project require more than our joinery?
Whether you’re planning structural alterations, a full redecoration or something more tailored, we’re here to help guide you through the process from the earliest ideas to the final finishing touches.
Working closely with a trusted group of skilled professionals including architects, builders and specialist tradespeople, we coordinate each stage of the project to keep things running smoothly and avoid unnecessary delays or complications.
Our aim is to create an experience that feels calm, well organised and collaborative, resulting in a home that is thoughtful, personal and beautifully resolved.

Our 8000 sq ft workshop is based in North London, in an area once renowned for its thriving furniture-making industry.
While much of that heritage is now giving way to residential development, we’re proud to continue the tradition of craftsmanship in a place shaped by it.
Our team consists of designers, project managers and makers who take a considered approach to their work and share a commitment to quality.

Joe Ridout
Co-Founder
Joe is our principal designer.
Since graduating with an Interior and Architectural Design BA (Hons), he strives to stay at the forefront of the industry, consistently engaging in research on the latest trends and innovative materials.
His dedication to excellence and creativity plays a crucial role in shaping the bespoke design solutions he provides for the evolving needs of our clients.

Project Manager
Natalie is our senior project manager.
